Abstract

A dual-polarized electromagnetic dipole antenna is researched in this paper for the specific engineering application. In order to realize the dual polarization mode, the designed antenna is composed of two orthoganal rectangle dipoles which are printed on different sides of the adopted substrate, and the rectangle dipoles have circle slots. To simply the antenna structure, each port of the researched dipole antenna with two polarization is directly excited by the probe of coaxial cable. A metal reflecting ground plate under the printed board is used to achive the unidirectional pattern for the researched dual-polarized electromagnetic dipole antenna. The designed antenna with two polarization was simulated and fabricated, then the measurement rresults are provided. According to the research results, the working frequency range is 1.08GHz to 1.13GHz, the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of each port for the designed antenna with dual polarization is lower than 2, the port isolation degree is better than 28dB, the realized gain come to 8.4dB and the cross-polarization levels at main beam direction reach -19dB. Based on the working performnances, the proposed antenna with dual polarization have simple strcuture and suitable for some specific application case.
