Abstract

The paper proposed deals with the design and development of the Slovak multimodal dialogue system with the BML realizer Elckerlyc as a user interface. Elckerlyc is a BML compliant behavior realizer for generating multimodal verbal and nonverbal behavior for virtual agents. It is developed by Human Media Interaction group at the University of Twente. According to our previous experiences with the distributed hub-server Galaxy architecture, we have adopted this framework as the background of the dialogue system. One of the advantages of using Galaxy was the reusing of components from our spoken dialogue system. Designed multimodal dialogue system takes an advantage of distributed dialogue manager and two-level communication between its servers. The base level implements the signalization and servers communicate through Galaxy messages. The second level implements the data exchange and is realized as the database with four pools for interaction data, user's data, task data and domain data.
