Abstract

Data acquisition systems are commonly used to monitor the power generation performance and efficiency of solar energy systems. The main purpose of this study is to monitor the PVs used by mounting on the outer surface of rapidly growing green buildings from a single point and to intervene when necessary. The proposed prototype aims to both characterize the panel performance and quickly detect the failed PV panel by using a single low-cost control box and cloud based open-source software. With this system, the separate current–voltage-power output parameters of all panels and characterization curves can be automatically obtained and at the same time, all environmental conditions (radiation, UV, temperature, wind speed and direction, pressure, humidity, rain, dust and PV panel temperature) affecting the PV modules can be simultaneously recorded. The software used in the developed system is open source, free of charge and user-friendly..
