Abstract

This paper presents the results of an on-going research investigation being conducted at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, in collaboration with its’ industrial partner, Intelligent Machine Concepts (IMC). IMC, an advanced technology developer manufactures laser sensors that enable automated non-contact inspection, real-time tracking, and metrology applications. The central focus of the research project is to enhance the functionality of this commercially successful sensor technology through the development of autonomous intelligence capabilities of perception, decision and action. This paper presents an overview of the integrated software / hardware solution towards the development of smart sensors.
