Abstract

Functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a technique used to measure blood oxygenation. In this paper, we design and develop an athletic health monitoring system using fNIRS, to monitor muscle oxygenation. The system is built using LEDs and photo detectors (OPT101) for the sensor patch, which are interfaced using the microcontroller, STM32f4 Discovery. Oxygenation values are obtained using Modified Beer Lambert's Law (MBLL). The results have been validated by comparing them with earlier studies. The system can be made wireless, using a Bluetooth Module.
