Abstract

The article delves into the relationship between design and craftsmanship, highlighting the transformation in artisanal practices driven by collaboration with designers. Through a systematic review, the text explores interactions between designers and artisans, emphasizing manufacturing techniques of Batik and embroidery craftsmanship, both globally and in the Brazilian context. The employed methodology seeks to answer how these collaborations influence innovation, cultural preservation, and sustainability. Batik, an ancient dyeing technique, is showcased as a vibrant example, demonstrating how the integration of modern technologies and the valorization of traditions can coexist and flourish. In Brazil, the partnership between designers and artisans is deemed crucial for preserving traditional embroidery, contributing to market expansion and sustainability. The concluding remarks underscore the importance of collaborative approaches, highlighting the potential for innovation and cultural preservation inherent in the interaction between design and craftsmanship, and how these partnerships can generate lasting positive impacts on artisanal practices and the involved communities.
