Abstract
This paper presents a recent experience from Austria, concerning a bridge characterized by a particular shape of the abutments and considerable slenderness, and by a casting of the superstructure performed in two steps. A durable and low-maintenance structure could be achieved because of the reduction of high-maintenance elements like sealing and pavements. The advantages of the selected bridge layout are described using the example of the Perschling Bridge in Austria focusing on the general bridge conception, static calculation, design as well as construction.
