Abstract
The conformation and configuration of functional molecules can be changed by the environmental stimulus, and induced some physical or chemical properties changes, or generated some distinct functions, such as directional electron/energy transfer, the tuning of the binding affinity for molecules/ions and photo/electronic switches. The design of functional molecules is the foundation of the molecular materials. Here we summarized our recent progresses on the studies of the design, synthesis and properties of advanced functional molecular systems based on molecular machines, chemical sensors. The prospective future in this field will also be discussed.
