Abstract

Atrazine cause contamination to the natural organic systems and has been found in ground and surface water in various nations which crossed past reasonable points of limitation. Different processes like electro dialysis, reverse osmosis, ultrasonic destruction, dissipation, photo catalytic degradation are of high cost and delivering different toxic substances that are not controllable. Electro coagulation method has been researched for Atrazine removal in view of its ability for useful remediation. Effect of different operational parameters like Electrolysis Time, Voltage, pH, Mixing speed and Electrode spacing have been studied for the removal of Atrazine herbicide by Electro Coagulation using Ferrous electrodes and the optimized conditions were observed to be Electrolysis Time (90 minutes), Voltage (17 Volts), pH (7), RPM (800), and Electrode spacing (3cm). The highest removal of Atrazine was found to be 94.18 % at the optimum conditions. Box-Behnken design with Response Surface Methodology was done for the optimization of electro coagulation process for the maximum removal of Atrazine from waste water and it was found to be 95.32%.
