Abstract

At present micromixing is a very significant part of microfluidics. Mixing of low volume of fluids in less time is the basic need of biomedical and biochemical fields. Mixing of two fluids in a micro-sized channel is a primary aim of this work. Spiral microchannels have been designed for fluid mixing. Computational analysis has been carried out at various Reynolds number (Re) to observe the mixing of water and ethyl alcohol. Pressure drop and mixing efficiency at various locations of microchannels has been calculated to characterize the fluid mixing in spiral microchannel. Best mixing has been achieved at Re value of 0.25 where mixing efficiency and pressure drop has been observed as 95.74% and 141 Pa respectively.
