Abstract

Control strategies of the anti-lock braking system (ABS) are researched in this paper. A full vehicle model is built in Adams/Car and a virtual experiment is conducted. Models of three-channel ABS using the logic threshold controller and the fuzzy logic controller are developed in Matlab/Simulink. The designs of membership functions and fuzzy rules for the fuzzy logic controller are researched in detail. ABS control is achieved by Adams/Control module which couples the full vehicle model in Adams/Car to the models of the ABS in Simulink. For comparison purposes, the two ABS controllers all take tire slip ratio and wheel angular acceleration as inputs and pressure variation in wheel cylinder as output. The simulation results demonstrate that ABS governed by a fuzzy logic controller can keep the slip ratio around optimal value with smaller fluctuations. And it can improve the braking efficiency and prolong the service life of the hydraulic system.
