Abstract

A bi-polar two-quadrant DC-DC converter is presented in this paper. This is a seventh-order dc-dc converter exhibits smooth variation of voltage gain with duty ratio and effectively gives output voltage of either polarities (i.e. positive and negative output voltage). It gives positive output voltage with bucking operation for duty ratios up to 0.33 while at high duty ratios boosting operation with negative output voltage. This converter is preferred option than other topologies reported in literature from voltage gain point of view. The steady-state and small-signal analysis of the converter presented in detail. The theoretical results along with simulation are presented to verify the performance and its effectiveness.
