Abstract

This paper designed and analysed the wing for a Spitfire Mk9 Flight Simulator using three-dimensional modeling, finite element analysis and fatigue analysis methodologies with 3D EXPERIENCE, ABAQUS/FE-SAFE software. The results demonstrated that by using the wing structure as the access ramp to the cockpit simulator, the accessibility, safety and structural integrity could be improved vastly in comparison with the existing Spitfire flight simulators.
