Abstract

Suspension system is one of the most important sub-systems of the vehicle. Especially, in All-Terrain vehicles, which are specifically designed for the rough roads, suspension system plays a significant role [6]. The objective of this paper is to design and analyse parts of suspension for front and rear of an ATV. It specifically addresses the simulation and optimisation of suspension system. The object is to maximise the damping and minimize the track width and wheelbase change, anti-dive and anti-squat values. The failure mode analysis is performed to optimise the product design with efficient weight reduction under sufficient load bearing strength. This study focuses on the determination of suspension parameters based on the selected values of camber, toe, wheel base, track width, wheel travel to improvise the suspension geometry and further design the components of suspension system [1].
