Abstract

A compact planar antenna with a defective ground structure is presented in this work for Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) applications operating in terahertz range. It offers impedance bandwidth of 19.303 THz (0.299–19.602 THz) and is fed by microstrip feed line. The ground plane is altered to achieve bandwidth enrichment and provide size lessening. The radiation pattern is one of the significant performance factors, the antenna is resonating at four frequencies 0.697 THz, 2.1497 THz, 4.0004 THz and 4.9158 THz respectively. Parametric analysis is carried out to obtain desired results and steps are reported systematically. The proposed design attained an extreme gain of 21.62 dB at 12.08 THz.
