Abstract

This paper deals with the design and analysis of various controllers such as cascade controller, fuzzy controller and neural network (NN) predictive controller for a non-linear liquid-Saturated steam Heat Exchanger system. The purpose of this controller design is to achieve a uniform temperature at the output (tube end) of the heat exchanger system by manipulating the input liquid flow rate for a specified range. Temperature control of liquid - Saturated heat Exchanger is a complex issue because of the nonlinear nature. The transfer function model & state space model of the real time laboratory process is obtained by system identification tool box. Cascade controllers have been designed mainly for the disturbance rejection in faster rate. To further improve the performance of the heat exchanger process, the soft computing controllers like fuzzy controller, NN predictive controller have been chosen for the analysis.
