Abstract
A compact fractal Bow Tie microstrip patch array antenna with high gain and wideband for WLAN applications is proposed. There is a reduction of resonance frequency from 5.5GHz to 5.3GHz i.e. around 15 % with the proposed antenna compared to the Bow tie of the same size. The proposed antenna has been designed on FR4 substrate of thickness 1.6mm, and permittivity e r =4.4. The simulated result of fractal Bow tie 4×1 array antenna exhibits the excellent wide bandwidth from 5.20 GHz to 6.32 GHz corresponds to 20.33% impedance bandwidth at VSWR 2:1. The simulated radiation pattern of 4×1 Bow tie fractal array antenna is nealy omnidirectional in azimuth plane and bidirectional in elevation plane. The proposed antenna possesses a high gain of 9.0dBi with the overall size's very compact 22mm∗120mm∗1.6mm.
