Abstract
This paper discusses about design and analysis of cascaded H-bridge (CHB) converter with artificial neural network (ANN) based sine pulse width modulation (SPWM) technique for EV applications. EV trend can be developed in the future and hence improvements in power electronic converters (PEC) for electric vehicles will be acknowledged. This research article mainly deals with multi-level inverter (MLI) topology specifically most used practical CHB converter which can be appropriate for medium and high-power EV applications. Input of the CHB converter is connected with battery and output is coupled with induction motor drive. SPWM technique is used for switching the three level CHB converter and ANN based current controller is proposed to progress the dynamic performance of the system. This proposed method is implemented in MATLAB/Simulink platform and results are compared with proportional-integral (PI) based current controller. Simulation results are shown for CHB converter to validate adequate performance of ANN based current controller compared with PI based current control method.
