Abstract

A simple mechanism to stabilize the spectral response of a Multimode Interference (MMI) device is proposed based on the compensation of the positive thermo-optic coefficient of the No-Core multi-mode fiber (MMF) by introducing an additional multimode liquid section with negative thermo-optic coefficient. It is theoretically demonstrated that by selecting the adequate length of the liquid section it is possible to compensate the overall MMI system thus leading to fully athermal spectral response.
