Abstract

These experiments were made cluring the year 1877, by the direction of Mr. S. M. Gray, M. Am. Soc. C. E., City Engineer, for the purpose of determining with accuracy the loss of head in ordinary 2½-inch rubber hose, and nozzles of different forms and sizes, such as are generally used by fire departments, as the data at hand was inadequate to cover the varied information that the City Engineer's office was called upon to furnish.
