Abstract

The article presents fragments of geographical compilation «The Book of Highways and of Kingdoms» by al-Bakri, Andalusian Muslim geographer and historian of the 11th century. The information about countries and Slavic people, described in the book, is based on so-called «Report of Abraham ben Jacob» written in Arabic circa 965–966 AD. In addition to geographic descriptions, the work of al-Bakri contains interesting information about Slavic peoples, their culture, political system, customs, and rites.
