Abstract

The fifth-instar larva of Eucosma monitorana Heinrich is described from a collection of more than 300 specimens. The insects were collected from second-year ovulate cones of red pine, Pinus resinosa Aiton, in southern Wisconsin from 1962 to 1964. Considerable variation exists within each taxonomic characteristic, and especially in the chaetotaxy of the abdomen. The insect is closely related to E. tocullionana Heinrich.
