Abstract

The heavy-fermion bands of Ce compounds are described by the periodic Anderson model taking account of the realistic conduction-band structures using the Wannier functions. The conduction-band structures of the corresponding La compound calculated by the pseudo potential method are represented by Wannier functions using maximally localized Wannier functions, and then the hybridizations with 4 f electrons are considered by the use of the Slater–Koster integrals to obtain the heavy-fermion bands. Here we apply this method to describe the heavy-fermion bands of CeRu 2 Si 2 showing metamagnetism.
