Abstract

In this work we use the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model [1] as an effective quark theory based on QCD to describe the structure of baryons. We first solve the relativistic Faddeev equation [2] in the ladder approximation for the nucleon and the delta, including also the negative energy intermediate states. We then calculate bound state matrix elements of one-quark operators to obtain the static properties of the nucleon. Finally, we include the effect of (composite) meson exchange between quarks in the Faddeev framework.
