Abstract
Regarding desalination, the two-stage reverse-osmosis process is compared with the process where reverse osmosis is a first stage and electrodialysis is a second stage. Theoretical consideration and experimental results from plants with a reverse-osmosis system and an electrodialysis unit are discussed, particularly with respect to energy consumption and cost factors. 3 refs.
