Abstract
The objective of this research is to analyze the potential efficiency of the production process due to the redesign of the dining table product. The research methodology uses desain for manufacturing (DFM) technique which is divided into three stages: (1) analysis of the production cost of the parts of a folding dining table, (2) analysis of the decrease in a folding dining table's production cost, and (3) analysis of the production efficiency of the impact of folding dining table product development. Based on the results of data processing and analysis, it is concluded that the elements of the production cost of folding dining table products consist of variable costs, fixed costs, and overhead costs. Variable costs consist of the cost of raw materials and additional materials used. Fixed costs consist of depreciation costs or depreciation of the machines used and labor costs and the last is overhead costs which consist of electricity costs. The implementation of DFM in the redesign of the dining table product shows a decrease in component costs by 14,9% and reduction in assembly costs by 33,3% due to a reduction in the number of components. Changes in the type and amount of raw materials lead to time efficiency in the assembly and material handling processes because it is lighter. The addition of the function of the dining table into a folding dining table that can be used as a mirror increases the performance of the dining table product.
