Abstract

The sudden remote teaching emergency as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic created a disruption to education forcing English Language teachers to immediately teach remotely from home. Therefore, the following mixed method research was performed through an online survey with the aim of knowing how the participants of different language levels confronted the situation. This study was conducted through an online questionnaire that had opened and closed ended questions that were applied to 34 English language teachers from the cities of Guadalajara, Guanajuato and San Luis Potosí in México. The data collection consisted of ten responses of the above-mentioned teachers with a total of 340 answers in data collection. Thus, the purpose of this article is primarily to provide insight and information on how the English teachers faced the challenges and coped with the situation of the pandemic. More in particular, this research informs how the 34 English language teachers felt, and demonstrates that despite of the numerous challenges, uncertainty, trauma, anxiety and stress that surrounded them, the majority of teachers were perseverant on teaching, and learning during the health contingency
