Abstract

The Paris Opera Museum keeps a few stage costumes of the Swedish Ballets created in 1920 by Rolf de Marée, and which called upon famous Paris artists (Jean Cocteau, Jean Hugo, Steinlen, Paul Cohn, Foujita,.etc.) for their scenery. Unfortunately, the lack of interest in the Swedish Ballets led to their early disappearance and the scattering of their costumes, of which only those kept in the Paris Opera remain. However, they have no link with the preparatory drawings kept at the International Museum of dance in Stockholm, or with the photographs of the performances. Some costumes cannot be attached with any precise ballet. The most gorgeous item is the one, in black and white, created by Fernand Léger for Skating Rink, in association with black and green geometrical backcloths.
