SummaryIn this supplement to his study of monastic theology published in Bijdragen 57(1996)381-404 Martijn Schrama demonstrates how in the development of the scholastic theology of the 13th century interest for the affect diminishes. However, where the affective moment is stimulated anew by the theologians of the Schola Augustiniana, it serves to emphasize the pastoral aspect of theology, in oppositition to the dogmatic aspect of the discipline.
