Abstract
At a routine visit for monitoring of her thyroxine levels a 43-year-old lady mentioned to the practice nurse that she was experiencing discomfort on sexual intercourse and that when it was hot at night she felt very itchy ‘down below’. She was very concerned that she may have acquired a sexually transmitted disease. On examination, whitish areas of atrophied skin stretching from the vulva to anal area were seen. The labia appeared shrunken and there was a small fissure between the labia and anus.
