Abstract

The presence of both dermatitis herpetiformis and vitiligo in the same patient is rare. We have under observation a 40-year-old white male who has suffered from vitiligo for 32 years and who has been under treatment for dermatitis herpetiformis for the last five years. It is interesting and puzzling that the lesions of dermatitis herpetiformis, present in this man in the usual locations on the elbows and in the sacral area, stop at the edges of the vitiliginous plaques present in the same regions. We have no explanation to offer for this phenomenon and have been unable to find a report of a similar case. Sacral area: Lesions of dermatitis herpetiformis respecting patch of vitiligo.
