Abstract
The theoretical Rankine power cycle efficiencies η R and the pressure ratios (PR) have been presented for Rankine power cycles operating on n- octane . These values are listed in tabular form for temperature drops of 10–75°C and for boiler temperatures 100–260°C in 5°C increments. A composite graph showing the relationship between η R , T B0 , (PR) and temperature drop ( T B0 –T C0 illustrates the feasible operating range for n- octane power cycle systems. The derived thermodynamic data can be used for the rapid preliminary design of Rankine power cycle systems operating on n- octane .
