Abstract

The filamentary model, used to describe conduction through electroformed metal-insulator-metal structures, is considered where the filament population is assumed to have normally distributed filament cross-sectional areas. This approach differs from previous work on the filamentary model in that the filament population is usually taken to have filament resistances randomly distributed. Current-voltage characteristics are derived and are found to be typical of those obtained experimentally.
