Abstract

A local impedance boundary condition for one-dimensional curved surfaces, applicable to a scattering formalism that permits the study of reentrant surfaces, is derived. The results are applied to the calculation of near- and far-field scattering patterns produced by a surface with a cylindrical cavity. The accuracy of the impedance boundary condition is evaluated with this example, which also illustrates the utility of the approximation.
