Abstract

On the basis of the hydromagnetic flow model and the Stokes microcontinuum fluid model, a modified lubrication equation for cylindrical squeeze films is derived. To guide the use of the derived equation, an example with parallel circular plates is illustrated. Comparing with the case of a non-conducting Newtonian lubricant, the hydromagnetic non-Newtonian effects provide better performance for circular squeeze films. The improved characteristics are further emphasized for circular plates operating with a larger magnetic field parameter and non-Newtonian parameter.
