Abstract

Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), a metabolite of Aspergillus flavus, is well known for its potency in hepatocarcinogenesis in experimental animals.19 AFB1 as well as hepatitis B virus has been implicated in the etiology of human liver cancer, on the basis of significant statistical correlation between the increased occurrence of liver cancer in areas of Asia and Africa and the consumption of grains contaminated with AFB1.20
