Abstract

Abstract The article describes the significance of structured space for articulating dissonances in music therapy with a child. Based on the example of a brief case study vignette from a playful music therapy approach to Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (FASD), dissonant phenomena in sound articulation, language and relationship-building are outlined. The female therapist’s acceptance and delicate dealing with occurrent dissonances are presented in the article as preconditions for the development of adoption of perspectives in therapeutic play on the part of the young female patient.
