Abstract

When appraising art, the idealistic ideas of heirs, art buyers or art lovers often do not coincide with legal and economic facts. At the same time, demand is increasing due to the investment quality of art. The area of conflict in art appraisal requires a flexible value system that makes the divergent aspects of art historical, legal and economic considerations comprehensible and verifiable for a precise, market-oriented and legally secure appraisal. Accompanied by expert opinions and practice-oriented examples, the author, a sworn and certified appraiser with decades of experience, provides effective guidance for appraisal work in the field of art.
