Abstract
A method for quantitative evaluation of phototactic experiments is described which is especially suitable for Cyanophyceae of theOscillatoria-Phormidium type. The zero threshold for topotaxis ofPhormidium autummale is at 5 lux, the reaction optimum at 200 lux, and the maximum, i. e. region of indifference, is reached at 10000 lux. Negative topotaxis was not observed, since the movement ofPh. autumnale ceases above 10000 lux as a result of negative photokinesis.
