Abstract

Compared with traditional integral imaging systems, light-field displays (LFDs) based on a holographic functional screen (HFS) shows significant advantages in terms of the number of viewpoints, large viewing angle, and high viewing resolution. LFDs usually suffer from a limited depth range, and the reason majorly originates from the pixel deviation effect in the reconstruction process. Here, an analysis method for the depth of field (DOF) based on the pixel deviation effect observed on the HFS plane is presented. Simulation experiments are carried out to show that the percentage of pixel deviation is a more accurate measure to calculate the DOF. The feasibility of this method is verified in optical experiments.
