Abstract
Activation of the peripheral immune system contributes to stress-related neuropsychiatric symptoms. Recently in Nature, Cathomas etal. demonstrate that stress-induced social avoidance is mediated by monocyte-derived MMP8 that remodels the extracellular space of the nucleus accumbens.
