Abstract

Depression and anxiety are frequently comorbid with heart disease. Limited evidence shows exercise improves depression in cardiovascular patients. Associations of exercise participation or change in exercise capacity, with changes in mood and anxiety symptoms in exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (CR) participants, remain unclear. We examined dose-response-like associations of exercise participation, or exercise capacity gains, with changes in depression or anxiety symptoms, over CR.
