Abstract
1. 1. In four our five experiments ACTH (45 i.u./kg, i.v.) caused a significant depletion of adrenal ascorbic acid withing 5 min. Repletion began after 30 min and was substantially complete within 30 min. In the fifth experiment, however, there was an immediate and a significant increase in the ascorbic acid level. 2. 2. Histamine (3 mg/kg, i.v.) caused a transient but significant rise in adrenal ascorbic acid. After 10 min there was a significant fall. Repletion was advanced 1 hr after stimulation. 3. 3. The possible role of the bursa of Fabricius in adrenal ascorbic acid metabolism is discussed in the light of these results.
