Abstract

Ferrite grain refinement of a ferritic–martensitic dual-phase (DP) steel was found to be quite effective in enhancement of tensile properties, work-hardening behavior, and quench aging (natural aging) phenomenon. The precipitation strengthening effect of fine carbides was rationalized based on the Ashby–Orowan and Hall–Petch relationships.
