Abstract

The structural, the electrical, and the optical properties of Y 1-xYb xBa 2Cu 3O 7-y:F 3x superconductors with various Yb mole fractions were investigated. From X-ray diffraction analysis, while the structure of the Y 1-xYb xBa 2Cu 3O 7-y:F 3x with x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5 grown by using the solid- state reaction was orthorhombic. The resistivity as a function of temperature for Y 1-xYb xBa 2Cu 3O 7-y:F 3x with various of Yb showed that the superconducting transition temperatures were varied between 98 and 102 K. Infrared transmittance measurements showed that the intensity of the absorbance for the Cu(1) - O(4) stretching mode in the frequency range between 421.01 and 674.17 cm -1 increased with increasing Yb mole fraction. These results indicate that the structural, electrical, and optical properties of Y 1-xYb xBa 2Cu 3O 7-y:F 3x superconductors are significantly dependent on the Yb mole fraction.
