Abstract

We have measured the volumetric behavior of paste extrudable explosive RX-08-FK using two methods: high-precision dilatometry at atmospheric pressure and temperatures from -30 to +85 o C and compression testing in a specially designed piston-type rheometer in which the orifice was replaced with a blank. Compression measurements were made at six temperatures from -54 to +74 o C end at many pressures up to 70 MPa. The volume coefficient of expansion of the paste at 1 atm is very nearly constant over the temperature range tested, averaging (3.643 ± 0.005)×10 -4 K -1
