Abstract

Abstract We have studied the phase properties of initially coherent light interacting with two identical two-level atoms using the Hermitian phase operator of Pegg and Barnett. The results show that, in a certain initial state of the atoms, the field would, to a certain extent, preserve its order in phase, even for a long interaction time with the two atoms.
