Abstract

Based on a previous semi-classical model, we investigated the giant magnetoresistance (GMR) as functions of the thicknesses of the outer and center ferromagnetic layers and the nonmagnetic layer in dual spin valves. The calculated GMR was found to be consistent with experimental results, indicating that our model is applicable even for complicated dual spin valve multilayers. Moreover, some theoretical predictions are given in this letter that allow us to propose ways to optimize dual spin valve structures. (© 2004 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
