Abstract

Dentigerous cyst, previously known as follicular cyst, is a developmental odontogenic cyst that arises due to fluid accumulation between the unerupted tooth crown and reduced enamel epithelium. Dentigerous cyst is most frequently seen in relation to impacted teeth, most common being mandibular third molars and maxillary canines. However, only few cases of dentigerous cyst associated with incisor teeth have been reported. Dentigerous cysts are mostly diagnosed incidentally during routine radiographic examinations, as they are generally asymptomatic. Infected cases may become symptomatic, and, large cysts may even lead to pathologic fractures of the jaw. Thorough review of history and performing clinical and radiological examination together with histopathology are mandatory for early diagnosis and treatment plan. Hereby, we document an uncommon case where the dentigerous cyst was seen associated with an unerupted lateral incisor. Enucleation of the cyst along with the extraction of the lateral incisor was carried out. Regular follow-up was done and no recurrence was observed.
