Abstract

AbstractLemierre's syndrome (LS) is a rare condition resulting from oropharyngeal infection with Fusobacterium necrophorum (FN). We postulate that multiple untreated dental abscesses were responsible for the development of LS in a previously healthy young woman. This article demonstrates the clinical features of a particularly severe case of Lemierre's disease complicated by the development of an acute cardiomyopathy. An association between LS and cardiomyopathy has not previously been reported in the literature.
